HOME RENOVATION | INTERIOR DECORATOR | BESPOKE CABINETRY | BALHAM

Located in Balham at the doorstep of leafy Tooting Common, this Edwardian house features beautiful stained glass windows and original cornicing. The client wanted to focus their resource and energy into creating more purposeful living spaces.

Key to this is creating privacy between the two front rooms. For most young families, the typical open living spaces can be challenging, so we installed Crittall style sliding door between the rooms, so they can be used as one for social gatherings; or to separate the kids’ space, where they can have the freedom to be noisy and spirited; and the adult space, where parent’s can enjoy a quiet moment.

Alongside this, full height cabinetry was built into the nooks commonly found on either side of the fireplaces give it life through the family’s books; art and personal objects.

The colour palette and furniture was chosen to enhance the stained glass and period features. We also peeled back the decades of paint to reveal the original cornicing and added further panelling. The result is a delightful family space that feels sympathetic to it’s origins, yet contemporary and purposeful.
